Final Week Picks

Today is the big game! Now, I know you're thinking that I'm talking about the Patriots, and Jets-Dolphins, and all that, but no, today is the championship for my fantasy football league and I'm in the title game. Woo. hoo.

Now down to business:

St. Louis @ Atlanta: I've moved Matt Ryan to be my starter in fantasy football in case Tony Dungy decides to let Jim Sorgi get used as a tackling dummy by Tennessee instead of Peyton Manning. I'm going to put my money where my mouth is: Atlanta.

Kansas City @ Cincinnati: Jeez. Cincinnati has momentum after last week? I dunno. Cincy.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis: Indy.

New England @ Buffalo: I have to go with the Pats.

Detroit @ Green Bay: God, I just have to think Detroit will win a game this year, but it just doesn't make sense that it would be this one. GB

NY Giants @ Minnesota: Giants.

Carolina @ New Orleans: The Saints, in a mild upset.

Oakland @ Tampa Bay: TB

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh: Cleveland loses, and Romeo Crennel loses his job.

Miami @ NY Jets: /me sighs. I will root for the Jets today.

Chicago @ Houston. Bears.

Dallas @ Philadelphia: Philly

Seattle @ Arizona: God Arizona sucked last week. Arizona

Washington @ SF: SF

Jacksonville @ Baltimore: Baltimore, sadly.

Denver @ San Diego: San Diego

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Grrr...I didn't miss that there was a game last night. I simply forgot to post. I *DID* pick Baltimore however to jack up the 'Boys. Obviously, the pick can't count BUT...yeah...I started Matt Schaub instead of Romo on my fantasy team this week for just that reason. :P

And what of the rest of my picks this week?!!

Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns: Gah. I hate to say that even to fans of either team this game is just kinda...meaningless. Of course I'm taking the Browns though.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans: My money's on Tennessee & home field advantage here.

San Francisco 49ers @ St Louis Rams: I think the Niners are the better team here...so I'm going with them!

San Diego Chargers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs can stay in the playoff hunt with wins...and I think they'll get one today.

New Orleans Saints @ Detroit Lions: Yeah...Saints. Poor Lions. :(

Miami Dolphins @ Kansas City Chiefs: Gotta take Miami...in what has really shaped up to be the most interesting division race in the league.

Arizona Cardinals @ New England Patriots: Weather is crucial here...and I just don't see any way the Cards can win this one. Pats theoretically stay in the playoff hunt...realistically tho? I don't think they have a shot. Sorry Dot. :(

Buffalo Bills @ Denver Broncos: Broncos of course. Playoff bound.

New York Jets @ Seattle Seahawks: Holmgren vs. Favre. Advantage, Favre. And the stage is set for next week's AFC East championship-deciding game between the two most improbable teams we could've imagined at the outset of the season.

Houston Texans @ Oakland Raiders: Texans. Duh.

Atlanta Falcons @ Minnesota Vikings: Really this is Peterson vs. Turner. I think Matt Ryan gives Atlanta an advantage...and I'm taking them.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins: Eagles stay alive with another win.

Carolina Panthers @ New York Giants: The G-men have something to prove this week. And I think they'll prove it with a win.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears: Gotta go Bears at home!

Snow Bound Picks!

Okay. I don't know how I missed that there was a game last night, but Kit missed it as well and Tony Romo is her fantasy QB so I don't feel too badly about it. I'm more concerned about fantasy football playoffs, and the fact that several of my players are hurt. Of course, my opponent this week has Kurt Warner as his QB and it is snowing like crazy here in Boston so that's not going to help him one bit.

On to the picks:

Cincinnati @ Cleveland Cleveland wins the battle of Ohio

Pittsburgh @ Tennessee I'm fascinated by this one. I'm taking Pittsburgh

San Francisco @ St. Louis SF, for reasons unknown to me.

San Diego @ Tampa Bay Tampa Bay is unbeated at home. No reason this won't continue

New Orleand @ Detroit Please let Detroit win a game. New Orleans will win this one though.

Miami @ Kansas City /me sighs. Miami

Arizona @ New England New England, given the weather

Buffalo @ Denver How in God's name did Buffalo lose to the Jets? Marshawn Lynch should tear up Denver's defense. I'm taking Buffalo

Houston @ Oakland I like Houston, which has turned in a respectable season.

New York Jets @ Seattle I can only wish the Jets will lose. They won't.

Atlanta @ Minnesota I like Atlanta and Michael Turner to have a big game.

Philadelphia @ Washington Philly

Carolina @ New York Giants Flip a coin. Carolina comes up a winner!

Green Bay @ Chicago Da Bears, and a big defensive game to seal the victory for my fantasy team.

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Thursday Night Special

Indianapolis @ Jacksonville. It's playoffs time in fantasy football and Peyton Manning is my quarterback. I know, I know. As a Patriots fan my head should explode with this cruel state of affairs. Still, Peyton needs to put up big numbers for me tonight. Do you hear that Peyton? Do you hear that Tony Dungy? I want Peyton throwing every time in the red zone, or quarterback sneaks from the one. Just do it! Oh, Indy should win this one.

Tonight's Game...

I'm taking the Colts. ;)

Kit's Picks - Week 15

OMG...the season's just about over. Then playoffs...then no football for ages and ages. :(

Is it me or do there seem to be a large number of DUH! games today?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons: These guys are duking it out for division supremacy...and I think it's gonna be a tough one...but I'll take Atlanta.

Seattle Seahawks @ St Louis Rams: *yawn* St. Louis.

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets: With the gridlock in the AFC East...every game is a 'must win' now for the Jets, Fins, & Pats. On paper, this is the toughest of the week among these 3 teams. But is it really? I mean come on. The Bills are a big goose egg in the division...and what success they *DID* have came in the first few weeks of the season (as usual). Gotta take the Jets today...and the gridlock continues.

San Francisco 49ers @ Miami Dolphins: The Fins are currently finding themselves at the top of the gridlock heap. They have to win to stay in the hunt. And they will. In fact...imo the AFC East is going to come down to the last week, between the Jets & Fins. Who woulda thunk that game would carry such huge weight at the beginning of the season?!

San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs: Yeah...gotta take San Diego here.

Green Bay Packers @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Green Bay keeps letting me down...but I keep going back for more!! Green Bay.

Detroit Lions @ Indianapolis Colts: Erm yeah. Colts.

Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans: Yeah I realize the Titans have clinched playoffs. But there's still home field advantage to gain. Also, it's Houston. Gotta take the Tits again this week!

Washington Redskins @ Cincinnati Bengals: 'Skins. God bless Cincy.

Minnesota Vikings @ Arizona Cardinals: Yanno I think this will be a close one...but I'm taking the Cards.

Pittburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens: The Steelers squeaked by Baltimore at Heinz earlier in the season. It pains me to say this...more than you know...but I think Baltimore is the better team. Pittsburgh has been lucky...a LOT. Baltimore has been kicking ass and taking names. I have to take Baltimore today...and I have to think they are going to ultimately pull the division championship.

New England Patriots @ Oakland Raiders: No hope for the Pats if they lose this one. Of course they won't lose this one.

Denver Broncos @ Carolina Panthers: It baffles me, but Denver keeps winning games they shouldn't. I think they're about to do it again today.

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys now remind me of the Indy of a few years back. You know...the one w/the great quarterback...who have so much flash and are capable of putting up so many points...but who just can't put away the big games. This game...is HUGE. And the Giants are gonna put it away.

Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles: Congrats to all you fantasy owners who're playing Brian Westbrook this weekend. He should have a huge day!! The Browns are toast at this point...there's always next season right? Right.

Dot's Sure Losers of the Week

Tampa Bay @ Atlanta: Atlanta, given their stellar home record.

Detroit @ Indianapolis: Really. I have to say something? Indy

Seattle @ St. Louis: The battle of the 2-11 teams. The line is even. I tossed a coin, and it said take St. Louis

Buffalo @ NY Jets: I am taking Buffalo, in the hopes that karma helps somehow.

Tennessee @ Houston: Houston. Tennessee is playoffs bound and resting up.

Washington @Cincinnati: 'skins.

San Diego @ Kansas City: Kansas City is bad, but could surprise. I still have to go with SD. When will LT wake up?

San Francisco @ Miami: Miami, as I grit my teeth and pray they lose.

Green Bay @ Jacksonville: Green Bay, though lord knows why.

Minnesota @ Arizona: Arizona, in a big way.

New England @ Oakland: Could the season get any worse for New England? Still, they win.

Denver @ Carolina: Carolina is on a roll, and I need DeAngelo Williams to keep his TD streak alive for my fantasy team. Panthers all the way

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore: I dunno. Pittsburgh, I guess.

NY Giants @ Dallas: Giants.

Cleveland @ Philadelphia: Cleveland has had one Monday night upset. They won't get two. Philly

Football Thursday

I like Chicago tonight, and their defense will come up big to save my fantasy team. You can see how close everything is: I'm in second place by less than 2 points, and I play Kit, who is in third place, this weekend. I need to win and win big to finish first in the league....and then, playoffs!

*1. Tigers 10-4-0 .714 1510.05 L-1 6 30
*2. New England Dotriots 10-4-0 .714 1508.50 L-2 8 15
*3. Pwnd 9-5-0 .643 1559.05 L-1 3 38
*4. mooseknuckle 9-5-0 .643 1425.60 W-5 7 13

Tonight's Game!

I'm taking Chicago!!!

Kit's Picks - Week 14!!

Wheee coming in under the wire here today as the 1:00 games get underway!!

Jacksonville Jaguars@ Chicago Bears: Hmmm yeah. Gotta go Chicago here!

Houston Texans @ Green Bay Packers: Texans are lackluster...so is Green Bay. But I'm betting on the Pack to pull it out today.

Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints: Call me crazy...I think Atlanta will take it!

Cleveland Browns @ Tennessee Titans: *sigh* Hello Ken Dorsey. Goodbye Romeo Crennell (we can only hope). Titans get an early Christmas gift w/this one.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants: Losing Plax hurts the Giants. Philly is a team in crisis. I think this will be a dogfight...but the G-men will prevail.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Indianapolis Colts: Bengals? Who dey? Another early Christmas gift. Say thanks, Peyton!

Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions: Good god the Lions are so sad. AD runs...well...all day. Vikings take it.

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills: Buffalo...wherefore art thou? I gotta take my home boy Pennington and the Fins.

New York Jets @ San Francisco 49ers: The cracks are showing for the Jets. But this is a must win...and I think they can do it. And will.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos: The Broncs put another nail in the coffin that is the sad AFC West.

New England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks: New England has an awfully easy season for having been 16-0 last season. Lucky for them, considering. Winning this one'll keep them in the AFC East title race.

St. Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals: The legend of Kurt Warner grows as the angry birds take another!

Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsurgh Steelers: This is a very tough late season matchup for two teams who can't afford to lose right now. The 'Boys need it more, however, and I think they'll take it. Narrowly.

Washington Redskins @ Baltimore Ravens: And...this is the other side of the coin to the Dallas/Pittsurgh matchup. Ironic that these 4 teams got matched up this week. Like Dallas, the 'Skins need it more. Unlike Dallas, they won't get it.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers: Tight game I think. I'm taking the Bucs.

Dot's Picks of the Week

Kit keeps sneaking up closer in the standings, and this may be the week where I lose it completely. I also got killed in fantasy football last week (Brian Westbrook went for four touchdowns on Thanksgiving, which meant I would never catch up). Still, I am plugging away at my picks, but not with any great confidence this week.

Jacksonville @ Chicago Chicago, I think.

Houston @ Green Bay Green Bay

Atlanta @ New Orleans Atlanta.

Cleveland @ Tennessee Tennessee.

Philadelphia @ New York Giants Giants

Cincinnati @ Indianapolis Indianapolis. Peyton Manning, my fantasy QB, totally screwed me last week.

Minnesota @ Detroit Minnesota. All my Gus Frerotte bashing, and he keeps winning.

Miami @ Buffalo Buffalo, to help save the Patriots' season.

New York Jets @ San Francisco Jets, I guess. But I hope they lose.

Kansas City @ Denver Who the hell knows. Denver

New England @ Seattle New England, in the first of four must win games for the Pats

St. Louis @ Arizona Arizona, as Kurt Warner decimates his former team.

Dallas @ Pittsburgh Pittsburgh. What can I say?

Washington @ Baltimore Baltimore

Tampa Bay @ Carolina Tampa Bay. I honestly thought Carolina was supposed to be good this year. I suppose I was misinformed.

Thursday Night Update

Oakland v. San Diego I'm sure the NFL Network is thrilled to have this on the slate. Sure, Oakland could win, but they probably won't. Then again, LT is MIA. SD gets the W.

Thursday Night Football!!

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers: Riiiight. In the week 14 version of the Who Cares Bowl...I'll take the Chargers.

Dot's Lucky Week Thirteen Picks

Kit is closing the gap on our picks. I'm tempted to just use her picks this week, but I won't. On the plus side, I've clinched a playoff spot in our fantasy football league and am currently in first place. I lucked out and have three of the top ten fantasy running backs on my roster. I'm praying Clinton Portis can make it to the end of the year....

Picks.

Tennesee Titans @ Detroit Lions: Detroit always plays on Turkey Day. You can guess why. Tennesee.

Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys: Honestly, if you pick against Seattle you're going to get at least 12 wins out of 16 this year. Dallas.

Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles: Kurt Warner could probably walk on water at this point, but he lives in the desert. Arizona.

San Francisco 49ers @ Buffalo Bills: Jeez Bills, you've made me look stupid for picking you to win the AFC East after Brady's injury. **** you! Bills.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals: This is Kit's Hater Bowl. The big plus for her? One of these teams will lose. Baltimore.

Indianapolis Colts @ Cleveland Browns: Poor poor Browns. Colts win.

Miami Dolphins @ St Louis Rams: Did you know that I had Greg Camarillo on my fantasy roster? Did you know his season ended because of injury? I picked up Ted Ginn Jr. about five seconds after Camarillo went down. Watch yourself over the middle Ginn! Dolphins.

New York Giants @ Washington Redskins: If I wanted to get cute, I'd pick the 'skins. I've learned my lesson. Giants.

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kit thinks this one will be tough. I don't. Saints.

Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers: The Packers are up and down and up and win. Packers

Atlanta Falcons @ San Diego Chargers: Atlanta.

Denver Broncos @ New York Jets: Thanks Denver for losing more games for me this year than any other team. I need the Jets to lose so my Pats have a chance to win the division, but it ain't happening this week. Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots: /me sighs. Patriots, although I should know better.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders: Kansas City.

Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings: I have Chicago's defense in my fantasy league. I know I've been talking trash about Gus Frerotte for weeks now, but this really is the week he throws three interceptions.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans: Houston. I thought Jacksonville was supposed to be good or something.

Kit's Picks - Week 13!!

Wheeee....going into a short week...hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!!

Getting right into the picks. ;)

Tennesee Titans @ Detroit Lions: They were popping the champagne in Miami last week...but the Titans are still as good as it gets. Tennesee.

Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys: Seawho? Boys take it.

Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles: What a nasty mess in Philly...they can just send McNabb to Cleveland if they don't want him. I'll take the Cardinals this week.

San Francisco 49ers @ Buffalo Bills: Damn...the Bills have been bad...but I'm gonna take them this week.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals: I hear there's an offical move on to rename the Cincy mascot from 'the Bengals' to 'the Suck'. Baltimore, sadly.

Indianapolis Colts @ Cleveland Browns: Yeah. I love you Browns. But I have to take the effing Manning this week.

Miami Dolphins @ St Louis Rams: Dun dun dun. Fins.

New York Giants @ Washington Redskins: Yeah...G-men.

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: This one'll be tough I think. I'm taking the Saints.

Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers: Packers bounce back from their epic ass-kicking with a win.

Atlanta Falcons @ San Diego Chargers: Hrmmmmm...Atlanta I think.

Denver Broncos @ New York Jets: Who the hell gets REAMED by Oakland?!!! Gotta go Jets here.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots: Pats, yeah.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders: KC gets a win!

Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings: Going with Chicago...it'll be a dogfight tho.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans: Houston!

Week 12 Picks - Kit

DOH...I forgot to come in and put up my picks...so putting up now! This is what I get for not putting them all up on Thursday!!!

Short & Sweet:

Houston Texans @ Cleveland Browns: Cleveland.

San Francisco 49ers @ Dallas Cowboys: Dallas.

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs: Buffalo.

Minnesota Vikings @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Minnesota

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detroit Lions: Bucs!

Chicago Bears @ St Louis Rams: Da Bears!

New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans: Titans (sorry Brett!).

Philadelphia Eagles @ Baltimore Ravens: Ravens (wah).

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins: Patriots...BUT...I think this is the toughest game to call this week!

Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos: Denver...god this division sucks!

New York Giants @ Arizona Cardinals: Giants...but it'll be close I think.

Washingon Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks: Washington.

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons: Taking Atlanta!

Indianapolis Colts @ San Diego Chargers: San Diego..and both teams need it!

Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints: I'm going Saints this week!

Dot's Week 12 Picks

So Kit picked up a game on me last week and I'm starting to worry a bit. I'm also facing a stiff battle at the top of the fantasy league--I'm going against the top team. We have the same record, but Ky has more points so he's the leader. Kit thinks it is enough just to make the playoffs but I want to win out the regular season as well. Competitive much?

Now the picks.

Tampa Bay @ Detroit Tampa Bay

NY Jets @ Tennessee Detroit

Buffalo @ Kansas City Jeez, I dunno. Buffalo.

Chicago @ St. Louis Chicago

New England @ Miami New England

Minnesota @ Jacksonville Jacksonville

Philadelphia @ Baltimore Philadelphia

Houston @ Cleveland Cleveland

San Francisco @ Dallas Dallas

Oakland @ Denver Denver

Washington @ Seattle Washington

NY Giants @ Arizona A tough one. Giants in the end.

Carolina @ Atlanta Atlanta

Indianapolis @ San Diego Indianapolis

Green Bay @ New Orleans Green Bay.

Dot's Almost Late Thursday Night Game Pick

Gah! I almost forgot there was a game tonight I've been so busy in RL....

Pittsburgh against Cincinnati. Gee, that's a tough one. Pittsburgh.

Thursday Football Hooray!!!

Hmm...I think I'm taking Pittsburgh for tonight. Shock. ;)

Sunday, November 16, 2008

The Rest of My Picks for Week 11. Buyer Beware!

So, Kit and I both whiffed on the Pats, but that was some crazy game wasn't it?

Baltimore Ravens @ New York Giants: I don't think anyone thought the Giants would be this good. Giants

Denver Broncos @ Atlanta Falcons: Atlanta...

Detroit Lions @ Carolina Panthers: I mean, really! Carolina

Minnesota Vikings @ Tampa Bay Buccanners: Tampa Bay. You won't go broke betting against Gus Frerotte.

Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins: Ditto for Oakland. Miami wins.

New Orleans Saints & Kansas City Chiefs: What the hell happened to the Saints? Time for the Kansas City cure-all. I 'll take the Saints.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinati Bengals: The Eagles, but closer than you might think.

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers: I start Kyle Orton in fantasy football and he lasts one half. He's still not right, so I have to go with the Packers.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts: Okay scrunch face boy--big numbers this week! /me needs a big fantasy win. Indianapolis.

St Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers *and* Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks: Lord. 49ers and Cardinals. This division is just awful, but Kurt Warner seems to have found the fountain of youth.

Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Honestly, undefeated means I pick them until they lose, or Kerry Collins turns into a pumpkin. Tennessee.

San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers: What happened to LT this year? Pittsburgh.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins: Romos's back. 'skins win.

Cleveland Browns @ Buffalo Bills: I picked Buffalo to win the AFC East. Not gonna happen. Browns

Dot's Picks, Week 11, Thursday Night Special

Kit and I still have seven games separating us in the prediction standings for what seems like the third week in a row. Thursday night football seems wrong to me, but I suppose I have to go ahead and make my prediction although I won't be doing the entire weekend like that over-achiever Kit. My fantasy team is still in second place although that may change this weekend since number one and number three are head-to-head. My fantasy team is coming back--no byes left, which means a full roster, and some of the injured players are getting healthy again too, although Clinton Portis is questionable against the Cowboys, which would be a big loss for me. I suppose I will have to play Thomas Jones of the Jets in his place, which leads me to tonight's prediction.

New York Jets @ New England Patriots The Pats and Jets are tied for first place in their division at 6-3, which seems a little remarkable, but I suppose the Patriots with a second-string quarterback are as good as the Jets with a future hall-of-famer behind center. So what will happen tonight? Damned if I know. But for the past several years the Jets have been Charlie Brown trying to kick that football, and the Patriots have been Lucy pulling it away every time. I'll stick with the Patriots until the Jets prove they can win in Foxboro.

Kit's Picks - Week 11

The back end of the season is upon us now...as teams jockey for position in the ranks with little time left to gain a foothold. No more byes...it's all about who can run the gauntlet from here on out. Soooo what's in store for week 11?

Baltimore Ravens @ New York Giants: The Ravens & Steelers are currently duking it out atop the AFC North. While the Giants have a good lead in the NFC East, they're far from safe at this point. The Ravens are a solid team who probably need the win a little more...but...I think the Giants are too good at this point...and take another step toward clinching their division.

New York Jets @ New England Patriots: The AFC East is in an almost complete deadlock at this point. Every game counts...especially intra-divisional games like this. The winner of this game stands alone atop the division, at least for now. Add the Bellichick/Mangini factor...and this game shapes up to be arguably the most intriguing game of the week. I don't expect the Jets to roll over easily, but I do expect the Pats to prevail in this one.

Denver Broncos @ Atlanta Falcons: Talk about unfair: mediocre Denver retains the narrowest of leads in the AFC West, while upstart powerhouse Atlanta is still a game back in the NFC South. I think Atlanta is the team with the momentum...and they'll get a W here...but...

Detroit Lions @ Carolina Panthers: Carolina still retains the lead in the division at the expense of the hapless Lions, who have virtually no hope of any sort of foothold in the NFC North.

Minnesota Vikings @ Tampa Bay Buccanners: Minnesota is all knotted up at the top of the NFC North...and Tampa is a game behind Carolina in the NFC South. Both teams need this game to retain position...expect a dogfight. I think Tampa, fresh off a bye, will pull this one out.

Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins: Believe it or not, the in the lackluster AFC West, Oakland is only 3 games behind...and not even in last place! Last season's 1-15 Dolphins are now in a dead heat with the rest of the teams in the AFC East. Of course the Raiders have no hope of winning this game...and the Fins hold on to their 3rd place division spot.

New Orleans Saints & Kansas City Chiefs: The Saints are currently in last place (but not out of the running) in the NFC South...while the Chiefs are officially the worst team in the worst division in the AFC. Advantage Saints.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinati Bengals: The NFC has been surpringly good this season. The Eagles are a solid team...yet sit at the bottom of the loaded NFC East. The Bengals won a game! In theory, they could still win the AFC North. I wouldn't hold my breath, however. Gotta go with the Eagles.

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers: The NFC North is in a deadlock (well...minus the Lion)...and this is another game with huge reverberations. They meet again in 5 weeks. Whichever team wins this week has a huge step up. With the loss of Orton...the ears are vulnerable. I'll take the Packers.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts: Houston could theoretically win the AFC South...if Tennessee doesn't win another game this season (yeah right). The Colts have a much more reasonable shot at it...and tack on another W this week to keep them there.

St Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers *and* Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks: ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. That pretty much sums up the NFC West. These games are meaningless to everyone except fans of the respective teams. I'll take San Fran I guess, and Arizona definitely.

Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars: The Titans all but have the AFC South locked up. I don't expect them to let up now. Titans remain undefeated.

San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers: I can't express my displeasure enough at the fact that the Steelers & Ravens are dominating the AFC North. The Chargers are one game back in the AFC West...and imo will remain there. Begrudgingly, I'll take the Steelers.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins: The Skins are one game up on the 'Boys in the NFC East. Romo's back this week...albeit not 100%. Washington's been lackluster & Dallas is due. I'll take the Cowboys.

Cleveland Browns @ Buffalo Bills: Buffalo's at the bottom of the deadlocked AFC East...but they seem to start strong every season then fade...and they've been on the fade for a while now. Cleveland is...well Cleveland. They're only 3 games behind but...*sigh*. I know they *can* win this...it's just a question of whether they will find a way to lose for the third week in a row. I'm banking on them pulling out the W this week, though.

Dot's Week 10 Picks, Taken With A Grain Of Salt

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons: I'm taking a huge risk and starting Matt Ryan as my fantasy QB this week. Does this mean I'm brave enough to take him for real? Yes, yes it does. Falcons.

Tennessee Titans @ Chicago Bears: I start Kyle Orton *once* as my fantasy QB, he gets his ankle hurt. Yet somehow I can't kill off Peyton Manning. Go figure. Titans.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Detroit Lions: I like Jacksonville.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans: I'll take Houston, just to make things interesting.

Seattle Seahawks @ Miami Dolphins: Dolphins

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings: God, Gus Frerotte hasn't been that bad. But there is such a thing as reverting to the norm. Green Bay.

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots: Patriots, although I honestly just don't know anymore.

St. Louis Rams @ New York Jets: Jets?

Carolina Panthers @ Oakland Raiders: How can you not pick against Oakland? Carolina.

Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers: I didn't start Peyton this week for fantasy, which means he's gonna go off. Unfortunately the interceptions will kill him. Steelers.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers: Chargers.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles: You have to pick the Giants until something catastrophic happens. Can I get Eli on my fantasy team?

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals: Cardinals, with Anquan Bolden saving my fantasy team's ass by coming up big.

Thursday, November 6, 2008

Week 10 Picks - Kit

Wheeeeee...games start early this week...so I figured I may as well put up all the picks now...before I go to my fantasy team & decide which team's quarterback I want to curse next by picking him up....

Denver Broncos @ Cleveland Browns: I'm much less than happy about the benching of Derek Anderson...but I expect Quinn to do well starting at home (quite literally) with nothing to lose against a weak Denver team. I'm taking Cleveland.

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons: I'm going with upstart Atlanta this week.

Tennessee Titans @ Chicago Bears: A week ago I'd have picked da Bears. With the loss of Orton, however, I'm going to have to go with the Titans.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Detroit Lions: I've never thought Culpepper was all that...but...J'ville has been weak and he's usually good for a game or two. I'm gonna take the Lions this week.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans: Yeah...sadly I have to take the Ravens here.

Seattle Seahawks @ Miami Dolphins: Ok. Go ahead. Laugh at me. The Fins have now become my most likely team to capture the AFC East. This game should be a boost...as Seattle is a bad, bad team.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings: I expect this to be a close game...and I'm taking the Packers to pull it out.

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots: Well...the Bills have imploded as usual...and the Pats...well...you just never know. Funny how this has kinda become an 'eh' game to anyone outside the AFC East...where the current deadlock makes it loom large for the loser. I'm taking the Pats...I guess.

St. Louis Rams @ New York Jets: Uhhhh. Well ok I guess the Jets stay neck in neck in the division race cos the Rams just suck.

Carolina Panthers @ Oakland Raiders: Right. Carolina.

Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers: It pains me to say this...but I think Pitt will pull it off.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers: Good news for the Chargers. They're gonna win a game this week!

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles: This has the potential to be a real shootout. I think the Giants are gonna come out on top though.

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals: Hmm...going with the angry birds again this week.
An early game this week, with Denver taking on Cleveland. I'm going with Cleveland in a close game....

Monday, November 3, 2008

So...

....at one point yesterday it looked like the Jets, Bengals, & Chiefs were all gonna win in the same day.

Praise the jeebus the Bucs pulled it out...b/c I'm pretty sure that would've been a sign of impending apocalypse.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Dot's Week Nine Picks

Kit is gaining on me, but I did manage to make up for my week 1 fantasy football loss so all is still good in my world. I am benching Peyton Manning this week for Kyle Orton, under the assumption that anyone will be able to put up big numbers against the Lions.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills: I'm still sticking with the Bills, who seem to have hit a rough patch but the Jets just don't scare me.

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears: God, years ago this would have been old-time NFL nirvana. Now it's just sad. Bears.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cincinnati Bengals: Jacksonville. I mean, what has Cincinnati done for me lately?

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns: My first difference of opinion with Kit. Ravens, although this is of life and death importance to Kit, given the Baltimore-Cleveland history.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Kansas City Chiefs: I mean, really? Tampa Bay.

Houston Texans @ Minnesota Vikings: I'm taking Houston, which is on a roll.

Arizona Cardinals @ St. Louis Rams: Kurt Warner throws for 1,000 yards.

Green Bay Packers @ Tennessee Titans: I have to go with Tennessee.

Miami Dolphins @ Denver Broncos: What the hell happened to the Broncos? Still, I like them to win.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants: Giants.

Atlanta Falcons @ Oakland Raiders: Michael Turner pours it on. Atlanta

Philadelphia Eagles @ Seattle Seahawks: I'm using Kit's words: "Duh. Philly."

New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts: /me sighs. I have no idea what to think. Patriots, out of loyalty.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Washington Redskins: Has to be the Skins.

Week 9 Picks - Kit

Wheeee...football day is upon us again!! So as I watch my weekly dose of 'Inside the NFL'...here come my picks. :P

I managed to pick up 3 games last week...even if I did get my butt kicked by Dot in the fantasy league. I doubt I'll be so lucky this week, however. Too many games just seem too easy to call.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills: So many games this week seem like...'Well duh' to me. I'm sure we're in for a shock in at least one of those but...just...I can't see any way here but the Bills winning.

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears: Direct quote from 'Inside the NFL':"Creative and the Lions aren't usually found in the same sentence. Unless you count finding new ways to lose as creativity." Yeah. Bears.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cincinnati Bengals: Another quote from 'Inside the NFL': "The Bengals play like a team that ain't there." Srsly...I keep saying Cincy has to win...but just...newp...not this week.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns: Heh...I actually typed 'Baltimore Colts' and had to correct myself. So yeah...Baltimore has a solid team and that really scares me. But I do think the Browns can do it. And will.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Kansas City Chiefs: Yup. Bucs.

Houston Texans @ Minnesota Vikings: Hmmmmm....Vikings methinks.

Arizona Cardinals @ St. Louis Rams: The angry birds take another!!

Green Bay Packers @ Tennessee Titans: Well...this one is prolly gonna be one of the few actual close games this week. I think the Titans remain undefeated in the end, however.

Miami Dolphins @ Denver Broncos: Who would've thought...this far into the season...that the Broncs would only have one more W than the Fins? It's more a statement of how surprisingly bad Denver has been to me...I expected Miami to pick it up considerably this season. (Told you early on that I was a huge believer in what Parcells can do.) So yeah...I *do* think Miami could make this happen...but I'll take the Broncos at home this week tho...cos well...I don't think Miami is *that* improved...and the Broncs gotta win some, right? Right.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants: Wow...so the loss of Romo has drastically affected how this game will go I think. I have to think this is a lock for the Giants now.

Atlanta Falcons @ Oakland Raiders: Uh uh. Atlanta all the way.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Seattle Seahawks: Duh. Philly.

New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts: So yeah...this game is now totally not the clash of the titans we expected at the beginning of the season. The thing about this is...with few exceptions, the Pats D has always had their way with Peyton. Losing Tom Brady won't change that fact...so I say advantage New England...but I do expect it to be close.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Washington Redskins: Well...I think Washington is the better team here. Also I want the Steelers to lose. So yeah...Skins. :P

Week 8 Picks - Kit

*sigh*...the season's half over :(

On a brighter note...I managed to gain a little ground last week...and today's the big fantasy football showdown between Dot & me!! Wooohooo!!!

So lessee...picks...

Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles: Atlanta is hot. Philly is cold. I'm not sure why...but I'm still going with Philly this week.

Washington Redskins @ Detroit Lions: Yeahhhh...Washington.

Arizona Cardinals @ Carolina Panthers: The Panthers tore up the Saints last week...I think the Cardinals are in for more of the same.

Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins: I'm of the mind Buffalo will pull this one out.

San Diego Chargers @ New Orleans Saints: New Orleans rebounds with a win at home this week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Dallas Cowboys: Dallas is in big trouble...and while I wouldn't expect a repeat of last weekend's mess...I still think the Tampa D is gonna put a hurtin' on 'em.

Oakland Raiders @ Baltimore Ravens: I just don't see any way Oakland can possibly win this.

St. Louis Rams @ New England Patriots: Yeah I know the St. Louis 'unbeaten under their new head coach'. Welcome back to mediocrity, Rams.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets: Favre @ co. take this one.

Cleveland Browns @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Duh. Cleveland.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Houston Texans: Again...the Bengals have to win sometime. But not this week.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers: I'm banking on the Niners to take this one.

New York Giants @ Pittsburgh Steelers: I know it's tough to play at Heinz...but I just don't think the Steelers are good enough to hang in w/the Giants. Advantage, narrowly, New York.

Indianapolis Colts @ Tennesee Titans: Peyton is gonna spend more time on his back than Paris Hilton this week. Titans.

Dot's Week 8 Pics

Kit and I go head to head in fantasy football this week. She'll win of course.

Now my picks.

Tampa Bay @ Dallas

Brad Johnson isn't the answer. I don't even know what the question is. Tampa Bay

Buffalo @ Miami

Buffalo, the team to beat in AFC East.

Washington @ Detroit

Is this a trick? I mean, Halloween is coming up.....Washington and treats for everyone!

St. Louis @ New England

New England will be the Jekyll and Hyde team for the rest of the season. New England though, for this week.

San Diego @ New Orleans

Drew Brees? Phillip Rivers? Brees at home. New Orleans.

Kansas City @ Ny Jets

Jets.

Atlanta @ Philadelphia

Atlanta. I don't know why.

Arizona @ Carolina

Carolina.

Oakland @ Baltimore

Hmmm.....Baltimore.

Cleveland @ Jacksonville

Jacksonville.

Cincinnati @ Houston

Houston, on a roll.

NY Giants @ Pittsburgh

Giants.

Seattle @ San Francisco

Jeez. I dunno. San Francisco?

Indianapolis @ Tennessee

Indianapolis. You hear that Peyton? Big big big points as quarterback of my fantasy team!

Week 7 Picks - Kit

Wheeeee...football day is almost here again!! Let's see if I can undo a little damage this week. :P

San Diego Chargers @ Buffalo Bills: Dunno...this is a bit of a tossup given the most recent performances of both teams...but I'm gonna opt that a week off and home field advantage is gonna give Buffalo the edge.

New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers: This is a tough one to call I think...but I'm gonna take the Panthers.

Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears: Hm yeah...Chicago.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals: I know Cincy has to win eventually, right? Right?! But I don't think it's this week. Steelers.

Tennessee Titans @ Kansas City Chiefs: Yeah. Tennessee.

Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins: I'm not convinced that Ray Lewis & company is going to fall so much for the Wildcat. I think Baltimore will do enough to win.

San Francisco 49ers @ New York Giants: New York won't let what happened last week happen again this week. Giants all the way.

Dallas Cowboys @ St Louis Rams: Well...I know losing Romo is HUGE...but it's still St. Louis. I'll take the Cowboys.

Detroit Lions @ Houston Texans: Hrm...another tough one. I'm going with Detroit.

Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay Packers: Hm. I'm taking Green Bay this week.

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders: Something needs to happen with the Raiders organization...and how. I'm taking the Jets.

Cleveland Browns @ Washington Redskins: Yup...say I'm a dreamer if you want. I think Cleveland can (and will) do this.

Seattle Seahawks @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Seattle still has a team? I'm taking the Bucs.

Denver Broncos @ New England Patriots: Dunno...I was sold on Denver...now I'm not. I know the Pats are in peril...but I'm taking them at home this week.

Dot's NFL Picks Week Seven

Last week was a mixed bag in terms of picks--I mean, how in the hell does St. Louis beat the Redskins? On the other hand, I've taken over the lead in my fantasy football league which means that I will lose this week. There you have it--I'm predicting winners of NFL games while picking against the imaginary team that I actually control. I really need to get some self-esteem.....

San Diego @ Buffalo
Buffalo. LT, where are thou?

Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati
I just took T. J. Houshmanzadeh out of my fantasy lineup and replaced him with Santonio Holmes. I kinda have to go with Pittsburgh.

Dallas @ St. Louis
This is a tough one. I did not realize that Brad Johnson is 40 years old. He has such a generic name: if you were going to randomly pick a name for a quarterback, "Brad Johnson" would probably be what you would come up with. I'm just babbling because I'm having a hard time deciding but ultimately the Cowboys' running backs on artificial turf make me think Dallas will win this.

San Francisco @ NY Giants
Ah. This is easier. Giants

Minnesota @ Chicago
Chicago.

Tennessee @ Kansas City
Tennessee. They're undefeated. Tennessee

Baltimore @ Miami
Wow. I dunno. Baltimore really can't score points and Joe Flacco is struggling. Miami.

New Orleans @ Carolina
New Orleans baffles me. Having Marques Colston back should help, although he's apparently going to play with a splint and glove on his injured hand. How do I know? I just picked him up off waivers for my fantasy team. Now I'm choosing my receivers pre-injured, to save them the trouble of getting hurt once they're on my roster. Saints.

Detroit @ Houston
Houston won for me last week, and they will win for me again this week.

Indianapolis @ Green Bay
I'll take Indianapolis, with the understanding that Peyton Manning has to put up big numbers for my fantasy team.

NY Jets @ Oakland

Did you know that Al Davis only acquired a majority ownership interest in the Raiders in 2005? Strange but true. Did you know that I have absolutely no interest in this game? Jets, out of pure apathy.

Cleveland @ Washington
Kit was glowing all week over her Browns dismantling the Giants, and on Monday Night Football (do they still call it that? I'm too lazy to check), no less. Clinton Portis, my fantasy league team star is hurting, but should play, so I will go with the Redskins.

Seattle @ Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay. Brad Johnson, Gus Frerotte, Jeff Garcia.....Terry Bradshaw is in a dark room stretching while looking at NFL playbooks......Tampa Bay.

Denver @ New England
The Red Sox came back from a 7-0 seventh inning deficit to win 8-7 on Thursday night. Why do I mention this? Because it is the only thing I will have to keep me warm this fall since the Patriots are going to lose to Denver.....

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Well...

...yup...my picks have taken a nosedive into hopeless AND I lost & slipped to 2nd in the fantasy league...but...THE BROWNS BEAT THE GIANTS...so all is right in the world!!!!

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Week 6 Picks - Kit

Can you believe the season is a third over already? :(

Ok so...Dot may be smoking the ESPN experts...but she's not the most apt at math. Given the guaranteed wins for San Diego, Buffalo, Jacksonville, & New Orleans didn't pan out...with a 14 game slate...that'd be 10-4 last week...*still* very impressive. Philly let me down and brought me to 9-5 on the week...all in all not a bad week for either of us!!

I've made the picks chart black this week...in honor of the fact that the Browns get to be humiliated by the Giants on MNF for everyone to see. YAY!

Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Jets: Yeah...the Jets aren't all that...but Cincy is a certified MESS at this point...and Palmer's out again. J-e-t-s.

Miami Dolphins @ Houston Texans: The Texans may have to win a game here or there...but...I don't think it's gonna be this one. I take Miami.

Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcone: The Bears are hot...the Bears are cold...the Bears are possibly the most fickle team in the NFL for the past 2.3333333333 seasons. I'll take 'em this week though.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings: With all due respect to Dot...I'd take the Lions. And I am. :P

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Hmm...I'm going with Tampa Bay this week.

Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts: What...Dot...you don't fantasize about Peyton Manning...? Yeah...much as I hate to admit it...the Ravens are pretty solid. Indy's a team in peril. I'm taking the Ravens for the upset this week.

Oakland Raiders @ New Orleans Saints: Well if there's one team that's more of a mess than Cincy...besides St. Louis...or KC...I reckon it'd be Oakland. Saints.

St. Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins: See above. 'Skins all the way.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos: Hey have you heard? Cutler is better than Elway. *cue eye roll* I think this'll be a close one but the Broncs will prevail.

Green Bay Packers @ Seattle Seahawks: Erm...yeah Seattle's also a team in peril. Green Bay.

Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals: The universe rights itself this week...Dallas wins...& Arizona loses.

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Franciso 49ers: Remember what I said about how Philly always starts strong then seems to self-destruct...I think the self-destruction has started...and San Fran has been quietly holding their own. I'm taking the niners this week.

New England Patriots @ San Diego Chargers: O ye of little faith. In the Teams Beaten By Miami In 2008 Bowl...I'm taking New England.

New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns: *sigh* I have to take the Giants. But...I will be *ecstatic* to lose this pick.

Dot's Picks NFL Week 6

Just for the record, I went 11-3 last week, which was better than any of ESPN's experts. I'm just sayin'.

Chicago @ Atlanta

Bears, although I am truly conflicted as Michael Turner is a running back on my fantasy team and I have the Bears defense. I suppose this is the equivalent of doing meth and Nyquil and hoping to reach some sort of balance.

Baltimore @ Indianapolis

Colts, and Peyton Manning better deliver for me this week--he's been a lousy fantasy QB this week and by fantasy I mean statistics. Everyone knows the real fantasy quarterback isn't playing at all this year. /me fans herself and thinks of Tom Brady.

Detroit @ Minnesota

Vikings. Honestly, who would pick Detroit? People who would vote for McCain, that's who. I think Matt Millen has found employment as an adviser to the McCain campaign, given the events of the last ten days.

Oakland @ New Orleans
Saints.

Cincinnati @ NY Jets
God, the Bengals are awful. Jets

Carolina @ Tampa Bay
Carolina.

St. Louis @ Washington
Washington. St. Louis is a bad bad team.

Miami @ Houston
Houston has to win a few and at home versus the Dolphins seems within their reach.

Jacksonville @ Denver
Broncos, especially at home.

Dallas @ Arizona
This could be a trap game. Dallas should win, but Kurt Warner had been throwing the hell out of the ball but if he does that means the Cardinals are behind and can they come from behind enough? Dallas.

Philadelphia @ San Francisco
Eagles

Green Bay @ Seattle
Green Bay

New England @ San Diego
/me holds her breath and picks the Chargers.

NY Giants @ Cleveland
Even Kit will pick the Giants this week. Giants

The Week In Review

So I went 11-3 last weekend, which is pretty damn good no matter how you slice it, plus my fantasy football team is on a four game winning streak. My fantasy team is running into some problems at wide receiver: Anquan Boldin has a fractured sinus, Chris Chambers is likely out, Santonio Holmes is on the bye week. I'm mighty thin at receiver, and will try to muddle through this week with Muhsin Muhammad, T. J. Housmandzadeh, and I picked up Oakland's Johnnie Lee Higgins, who has been a return yards machine this year. My guess is that with Oakland playing New Orleans, he'll have plenty of chances to touch the ball on kickoffs. The workhorses on my team continue to be running backs Clinton Portis and Michael Turner. Now if Peyton Manning would just get off his ass (literally--he's been sacked seven times this year) and stop throwing interceptions (he has thrown as many interceptions as touchdowns) I might be able to make a serious run at Kit, who is currently in first place.

Dot's Guaranteed Wins, Week 5

So all I have to do to stay ahead of Kit is pick exactly what she picks. Ain't gonna do that though--I'm looking to extend my lead this week although there are not many games rational people would disagree on. Since I'm not a Vegas insider, I don't have time for lots of fancy words and reasons, I'm just gonna talk straight to the American people.

Tennessee Titans @ Baltimore Ravens: Tenneessee

Kansas City Chiefs @ Carolina Panthers: Carolina

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions: Chicago, and I have the Bears defense for my fantasy team. I like this matchup.

Atlanta Falcons @ Green Bay Packers: Yikes...down to a third string QB? Atlanta.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans: Indy. Peyton Manning is the QB on my fantasy team, and I need big production! You hear that scrunch face boy? TDs and yards!

Seattle Seahawks @ New York Giants: Giants.

San Diego Chargers @ Miami Dolphins: San Diego.

Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles: Kit and I differ here. I like the Skins.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Denver Broncos: Denver

Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals: Bills

Cincinnati Bengals @ Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys

New England Patriots @ San Francisco 49ers: Patriots. I just don't know what to expect though after that debacle against Miami.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Jacksonville

Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints: New Orleans. I feel like Gus Frerotte is old enough to be my grandfather.

Week 5 Picks - Kit

In an attempt to better my 50/50 record...here are this week's picks. :P

Tennessee Titans @ Baltimore Ravens: Uhm...honestly I think this one's a tough call...but I'll take Tennessee

Kansas City Chiefs @ Carolina Panthers: Well...ok...KC got their win last week. Back to normalcy and a win for Carolina.

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions: I think this one is also a tough call...but maybe there's some unrest in the Lions organization following the firing of Millen. I'll go Chicago.

Atlanta Falcons @ Green Bay Packers: A young upstart team vs Brett Favre's backup's backup. I think Atlanta has a real shot here...and I'm gonna take them for the upset.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans: The Colts return from their bye with an attitude adjustment and a win.

Seattle Seahawks @ New York Giants: Right. Giants.

San Diego Chargers @ Miami Dolphins: Hmmm...San Diego.

Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles: I think this will be a close one...but I'm taking Philly.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Denver Broncos: Denver rebounds with a win.

Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals: The angry birds are going down. Bills.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Dallas Cowboys: In the battle of T.O. vs O.C....I'll take T.O. & the 'boys.

New England Patriots @ San Francisco 49ers: Also returning from a bye...the Pats are back to winning form. At least vs. the Niners.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Jacksonville Jaguars: The Steelers are winning too many with luck down at the wire. Of course they got to go to a super bowl that way recently...so never underestimate the power...but I'm taking J'ville this week.

Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints: I'm backing the Saints this week!

Monday, September 29, 2008

GAH

How sad that my only hope of gaining any ground in picks this week is if the Ravens beat the Steelers. At least it gives me some semblance of a reason to even care about the game...I guess.

And well...technically when Dot posted her picks she wasn't right...I was in THIRD place in the fantasy league at that point in fact. However...yeah...after yesterday...I have regained the lead. :P

So...I finally come round that maybe Green Bay isn't cursed after all...they lose...AND Favre scores 5 tds (how many fantasy benches was Favre on I wonder?!). I finally decide maybe Chicago can't win one...they win. I don't even *KNOW* wtf to think about KC (but go me for playing Larry Johnson).

BUT...Cleveland won...and so it was a great week in my world. :P

Dot's NFL Picks Week 4

What Kit didn't tell you while reciting her tale of woe is that she is still leading in our fantasy football league. I feel pretty good about this week in fantasy football however, having picked up the Bills QB who is going against St. Louis, in a dome, and the Rams have let go of their two starting cornerbacks since the start of the season. Of course this means Buffalo will lose in some horrendous fashion, but I'm still picking them because I need my fantasy team to win--I'm in 4th place but moving up the standings after having completely forgotten to do anything with my fantasy team for the first week of the season. I also lost ground to the ESPN folks last week, although the best predictor on their expert panel is a computer, so go figure.

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers: I have Michael Turner on my fantasy team and he has been amazingly productive, but I'm not sure Atlanta has what it takes to beat Carolina, especially with rookie QB Matt Ryan going through growing pains. Carolina, but let's hope for 150 yards and two touchdowns from Turner.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals: This week it is the battle for Ohio. I honestly don't know what to make of either of these teams. I will go with Cleveland, once again to show my support for Kit.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars: You know Houston will win some games this season in the grand scheme of things. Week to week however, you pick them to lose them all. Why? Because you're gonna end up with something like 11 wins and 5 losses using this system. See how smart I am? Jacksonville.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs: Denver wins. The Chiefs suck, not to put too fine a point on it.

San Francisco 49ers @ New Orleans Saints: Saints.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Jets: Arizona wins, Kurt Warner has a big day.

Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I see Kit has come around to the Packers. I've been with them all year. Packers.

Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans: /me shrugs. I guess Tennessee.

San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders: San Diego got their first win against the Jets--I don't see how they lose momentum against Oakland. San Diego

Buffalo Bills @ St. Louis Rams: I'm gonna keep taking the Bills, who are my pick to win the AFC East.

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys: One of those classic NFL match ups if it were the 1970s. It isn't, and the Cowboys win at home.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears: The Eagles. I've given up on the Bears.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers: I can hear Kit's teeth grinding from here. I will take the Steelers at home.

Saturday, September 27, 2008

Week 4 Picks - Kit

WAHHHHH...I'm in deep trouble here...about as deep as the Brownies. I *need* some more W's this week. :(

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers: I don't think Carolina will tank two weeks in a row...so...I hafta go Carolina here.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals: This is like...an easily moveable object meets a completely stoppable force here. At least one team has to come away with a W. I'm banking on the Browns...even though I'm not hot on playing Quinn.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Hm yeah...Jacksonville.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs: It wasn't THAT long ago that KC was undefeated and Ocho Cinco was declaring his upstart team would beat them (with Jon Kitna even)...AND...when they did it was as much a stunnning upset as what the Fins did to the Pats last week. What happened to KC? They're beyond effed now...and even if they weren't THAT bad...I'd still pick Denver.

San Francisco 49ers @ New Orleans Saints: I'm backing the Saints on this one!

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Jets: Hm...ok call me crazy but I think the Jets can win this one!!

Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Battle of the Bays. I'll take the Packers.

Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans: I think this one will be really close actually...but I'll take Tennesee by a score.

San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders: Yeah...ok...I know how highly improbably this is...but the voices in my head are taking Oakland for the upset.

Buffalo Bills @ St. Louis Rams: The Rams are at least as effed as KC. Bills.

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys: Yeah, I know Dallas has to lose. I don't think it's this week though.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears: I think this one will also be close...but I'm behind Philly pulling this one out.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers: The only really acceptable outcome to this game would be a giant black hole forming in the stadium and sucking both teams in. Barring that improbability...I think the Ravens are going to upset the Steelers at home.

Okies...there we have em...here's to the Browns first win of the season...and to me regaining a little ground! :P

Sunday, September 21, 2008

/me Sighs

Well, the Patriots had to lose sometime, but to the Dolphins? At home?!? That's just embarrassing.

Week 3 Picks - Kit

Wheeeeeeeeeeee...it's been one of those weeks as I slide in under the wire to get this week's picks done. ;)

Looks like last week's Baltimore/Houston game has been rescheduled to uhmmmm...week 10 I think...so pick/records over there will be adjusted accordingly. God knows I need all the help I can get...I'm 5 games down now. :(

Kansas City Chiefs @ Atlanta Falcons: Yeah...KC lost to the Raiders. They may be this season's Dolphins. Atlanta picks up another W.

Oakland Raiders @ Buffalo Bills: This one's a cake walk for Buffalo.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Chicago Bears: This should be a good defensive contest...but I think Chicago's the team with the offense to pull it off.

Carolina Panthers @ Minnesota Vikings: Frerotte? Are you kidding me?! I hope they've double padded the stadium walls!! With no Randy Moss to shore Gus up this time around & Steve Smith back in action, the Panthers go 3-0.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots: The Fins stand just as much chance to beat the Pats as the Jets did last week: zero. Look for Moss to light it up this week.

Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Giants: Cincy is imploding with no O-line to speak of. Giants appear to be the real deal...and they'll take this one easily.

Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans: Even with perennial backup Kerry Collins, I think the Titans can take this one.

Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Redskins: Washington woke up last week...but I still have more faith in Warner than in the 'Skins quarterback du jour. I take the Cards...but it'll be close.

New Orleans Saints @ Denver Broncos: Ok...I have to give major props to Shanahan for the gutsy call to take the win last week. I think that's a move that gives a team major confidence...and I think they take this one.

St Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks: Guess we're gonna have a 'Who Cares Bowl' every week. The Seahawks got beat by the 49ers...so I'll take the Rams.

Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers: The Lions came so close to upsetting the Packers...I take 'em again this week.

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens: I can't express my hatred of Baltimore effectively enough. I take the Browns, of course.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts: Indy's definitely exposed & vulnerable...but I think they'll pull this one out.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Philadelphia Eagles: After that showdown with Dallas...Philly has me convinced. I don't think the Steelers can keep up in this one.

Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers: Hmmm...the Packers beat the Vikings...and got lucky when Kitna started throwing ints and handed the game over to them...I have to go Cowboys this week.

New York Jets @ San Diego Chargers: Hmmm yeah. Chargers.

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Dot's Picks, Week Three

So last week was good for me: I went 10-5 on my picks, which puts me at 20-11 for the season. I'm hanging with the ESPN experts at this point--that's right Schlereth, I'm coming for you! This weeks also marks the equivalent of the Super Bowl for Northern Ohio: that's right, it is Browns-Ravens this week!

Kansas City @ Atlanta
Is this a trick question? Atlanta

Oakland @ Buffalo
I said it last week and I will say it again: the Bills are the real threat to the Pats in the AFC East. Buffalo.

Tampa Bay @ Chicago
Chicago, but only because they are at home. Oh, also because they are playing Tampa Bay. Yeah, that's an important factor as well.

Carolina @ Minnesota
Minnesota ditched QB Tarvaris Jackson, which is probably what I would have done unless 100 year old Gus Frerotte were my back up. I tossed a coin and it said Carolina.

Miami @ New England
The Dolphins will improve, but not this week, despite Joey Porter's comments. Uh, Joey, have you really looked at your team? I have to go with the team that was won 21 regular season games in a row. Patriots.

Cincinnati @ New York Giants
Cincinnati has come up a loser for me twice now. I'm taking the Giants, which means the Bengals will win, so I'm choosing the Bengals, which mean the Giants will win, which means....oh to hell with it. The Giants win.

Houston @ Tennessee
Tennessee, for lack of caring and to prove I can spell Tennessee.

Arizona @ Washington
So Washington beat the Saints last week. I'm not sure what this proves. I will have to take the 'skins at home even though one data point isn't a trend.

Detroit @ San Francisco
Just shoot me. San Francisco

Saint Louis @ Seattle
Saint Louis is awful. Really and truly awful. Seattle is just kinda awful. I will take Seattle.

New Orleans @ Denver
Denver has received its gift win of the season. They will actually earn this one.

Pittsburgh @ Philadelphia
The Keystone Klash! Eagles had a short week and a bad loss to the Cowboys. I will take Pittsburgh.

Jackonsville @ Indianapolis
Twice I've picked against Indianapolis, twice I've been wrong. I have to go with Indianapolis but good lord, Peyton Manning isn't going to finish the season if his offensive line doesn't improve.

Cleveland @ Baltimore
Part of me wants to pick Baltimore, but Cleveland needs all the positive energy it can get. I will take Cleveland. I <3 Kit.

Dallas @ Green Bay
Green Bay. I have my reasons, most of which have to do with Tony Romo's inherent creepiness.

New York Jets @ San Diego
How's that Tom Brady knee injury working out for you J-E-T-S fans? Shawne Merriman is out with a bad knee too. You know what that means? San Diego wins, that's what.

Monday, September 15, 2008

GAH

I'm getting my booty kicked and so are the Browns. :(

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Week 2 Picks - Kit!

Well...Dot edged me out last week by one game...so it looks like I've got some making up to do this week...let's get to it! :P

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions: I've seen enough week 1 flukes...and I'm still not sold on Green Bay. I think Detroit pulls this one out at home.

New York Giants @ St Louis Rams: Hmmm yeah...gotta go Giants on this one!

New Orleans Saints @ Washington Redskins: Wow...srsly...Washington's a mess. I say the Saints have this one.

Buffalo Bills @ Jacksonville Jaguars: I think the Jags D have a wrench to throw into Buffalo's plans...taking the Jags at home.

Tennessee Titans @ Cincinnati Bengals: I was surprised by how both of these teams performed last weekend...I think the Bengals bounce back tomorrow though.

Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs: Wait...did I already declare last week's 49ers/Cards showdown the Who Cares Bowl '08? Too bad. Uhm...Chiefs.

Indianapolis Colts @ Minnesota Vikings: As much as I expected Indy to not be prepared for the Bears last week...I seriously don't see them dropping a 2nd one...esp to the Vikings. Colts take this one even if Peyton has to do it himself.

Chicago Bears @ Carolina Panthers: I don't think Delhomme can pull off a miracle against this defense...and the Bears go 2-0.

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: It was good to see Atlanta win last weekend after all the crap they've been through the past year...but...the Bucs always had Vick's number...and I think they're still going to dominate this young team.

San Franciso 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks: Jeez. Srsly I am so unsold on Seattle. But I reckon they're better than the Niners. I take Seattle...but I bet it'll be closer than it oughta.

San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos: Shawne Merriman is a huge loss...but then again beating Oakland isn't exactly something to write home about. I think this is a close one but Mile High is legendarily difficult...so I'm taking Denver by a nose.

New England Patriots @ New York Jets: Welcome back to the planet Earth, Jets fans. If you think Belichick is going to let Mangini outdo him, you've got another think coming. Pats all the way.

Miami Dolphins @ Arizona Cardinals: The Fins get their first win a helluva lot earlier than they got it last season.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans: This game is delayed again now...and Ike is likely to be in the heads of the Houston players...which could make them play better or worse. My pick is still the same as it would've been otherwise though...if the Ravens can hold the Bengals to 10 points...Houston doesn't stand a chance.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns: Cleveland. Of course. We're going to send those Steelers fans home w/their effing towels between their legs.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys: This should be a fun game to watch...and I think Philly has a real shot...but Dallas ain't St Louis...and I think the 'Boys pull this one out.

Dot's Picks, NFL Week Two

Kit has made some amazing football inspired clothes--the "Old School" collection is now available at CKS Designs!

I edged out Kit last week, with a 10-6 record. Will the tables turn this week? We shall see.....

My picks for this week:

Tennessee at Cincinnati

I like the Bengals. I'm expecting Vince Young's mother to call me any minute to bitch at me for not supporting her son.

Green Bay at Detroit

At least Detroit has the Raiders to point to as being worse than they are. Of course, this is like a South Dakotan making fun of a North Dakotan, but you have to work with what you have. Green Bay all the way.

Oakland at Kansas City

And Oakland, searching for a team to feel superior to, chooses the Washington Generals. Since they don't play the same sport, Oakland is confident they won't be called out. Kansas City wins.

New York Giants at St. Louis

The picks this week are so easy and logical that there has to be catch. This game isn't it. Giants.

Indianapolis at Minnesota

I'm going out on a limb and picking Minnesota. Indianapolis' offensive line leads to Peyton Manning being double stuffed more than once.

New Orleans at Washington

The Saints.

Chicago at Carolina

Carolina.

Buffalo at Jacksonville

For all the talk about the Jets being able to leapfrog the Patriots, the Bills are the team with a better chance. Doctors still haven't invented a Jetsectomy.

San Francisco at Seattle

This is like choosing between liver and liverwurst. San Francisco, and I'm holding my nose.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay

Matt Ryan threw a touchdown pass in his first NFL pass attempt. So did Michael Bishop. Who's that? Exactly. Tampa Bay

New England at NY Jets

Did you know Tom Brady threw the ball to Tom Brady while also providing pass protection for Tom Brady? Until New England loses, I'm not rational on the subject. New England.

Miami at Arizona

Arizona. No reason, other than Miami sucks.

San Diego at Denver

Shawne Merriman is out for the season. Denver runs over San Diego.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland

Kit is an optimist, God bless her, but Pittsburgh wins this game. On the other hand, Browns fans look forward to a head-to-head sentence diagramming competition with Steelers fans.

Philadelphia at Dallas

I know, I know, everyone thinks the Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl. Dot Lane doesn't do bandwagons. Philadelphia.

Baltimore at Houston

I just don't see the Baltimore offense coming out with any kind of sustained production and their defense isn't as good as it has been in previous years. The scale tips to Houston.

ATTENTION SPORTS ANALYISTS:

OK...just stay with me here...stay with me...

...what you need to do is stop drinking...

...put the Kool-Aid down onto the desk...

...good...STAY WITH ME...

...now...back away slowly...you can do it...I promise...

...now breathe deeply...and start using your heads...

Yeah...Tom Brady is out for the season...and yes, it's a *HUGE* blow to New England. But before we go declaring the Jets the heir apparent to the AFC East crown, we really need to stop and consider a few things:

1) I know I lost the pick last week...but...I still stand behind what I said about the Jets & the Dolphins being evenly matched. Want proof? Sure: That WILDASS toss Favre put up & Stuckey pulled down could have just as easily gone AGAINST the Jets as it went for them. If Revis doesn't intercept Pennington's last toss...it's likely a Fins TD, and game. Still not convinced? Check the game stats. That game could have *just* as easily gone the other way...the Jets didn't prove a thing.

2) I know this is sacrilege...but I'm sorry to inform you that Brett Favre is not God. He is a legend for many reasons...and I have the utmost respect for him...but take a look back at Green Bay's record since 2000. Sure they got into some playoffs...but they've been on a downswing from the glory days of the 90's. Last season was their best in a while...and the NFC North isn't exactly tough. Is he an asset to any team? You betcha. Does it mean the team is suddenly ALL THAT? Uhm, no.

3) The Jets won 4 games last season. TWO of those games were against the Dolphins...one was against the Chiefs. Hi...are we really ready to say this team is a realistic super bowl contender one year later? I realize they made other moves besides *just* acquiring Favre...but...come on...you tell me how up you'd be on this team if Pennington (or Clemens) were at the helm right now...and I'll tell you uh huh...that's just what I'm saying.

4) Yes, Tom Brady is also a living, playing legend at qb at this point in his career. Yes, losing a player of that caliber would be a huge blow to *any* team. But...do the Pats begin and end with Tom Brady? No...they don't. Love or hate 'em...this is one of the most solid teams in the NFL right now...at every position, and on both sides of the ball. It takes a helluva lot more than a great quarterback to compile the record they have in the past 7 years. So while they won't amass the W's and the numbers they would with Brady...their season is far from over. I still think they're the most likely team to win the AFC East...and the Bills are the biggest contenders to upset that at this point...*not* the Jets.

Ok...there's my rant for the week. :P

Dot's Monday Picks

Oops! I forgot Monday. Today was a mixed bag for me, given my record--Atlanta? Are you kidding me? Worst of all was Tom Brady's knee injury.......

7:00pm EST:
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers: I like Green Bay, in a sort of "shock of the new" win.

10:15pm EST:
Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders: Seriously, the Raiders? I predict a close game, with the Raiders finding a novel way to lose it at the end.

Week One Picks - Kit

As Dot noted...picks are not against the spread here...we're all about keeping it simple! ;)

Sunday Games:

1:00pm EST:
Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons: I have to go with Detroit on this one. I think they're a team on the upswing...and the Falcons are likely to be better, but still struggling.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are a bit of a mess right now (and awwwwww...I'm *so* upset about that). Cincy has been poised to break through with a huge season for a few years now...will this be the year they finally pull it together? I'm definitely backing Cincy this week.

Seattle Seahawks @ Buffalo Bills: I'm not sold on Buffalo...but I've *always* thought the Seahawks of the past few seasons were overrated. I give this one to the Bills.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins: Well well. While I appreciate Dot's 'spork' analogy...I think it's fair to remember that the Jets only won *three* more games than the Fins last season. (That's 5 total W's, COMBINED, for these two teams, for those of you playing along at home.)I have all the respect in the world for Favre as a player...but it takes more than a great quarterback to fix a team. I don't expect miracles in Miami either but, I also have a lot of respect for what Bill Parcells brings to an organization. So, let's say I think they're playing on pretty even ground at this point...and this week, I'm giving the edge, just barely, to Miami.

Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots: I don't think the Patriots are looking at another undefeated season...but I do think they're one of the 2-3 best teams in the league. Forget the buzz about Brady's foot...he'll be there...and he'll be productive. Pats all the way on this one.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints: I really think this is one's kinda tough to call. When the Saints are on, they're ON...but Tampa's D can be fierce. I give the edge to the Saints at home.

St. Louis Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles: Philly typically starts their season strong...I expect this one to be all theirs.

Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers: I don't think the Steelers are all that. (Wishful thinking? Maybe.) But the Texans are uhm...well yeah. Steelers by a mile.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans: Remember when the Titans were the Houston Oilers? Remember when Warren Moon *always* found a way to win? Frequently against the Browns? Yeah, I hated the effing Oilers...and I still hold it against the Titans. I think the Jags D has their number this week...and I'm going Jacksonville.

4:15pm EST:
Dallas Cowboys @ Cleveland Browns: What? Romo creeps Dot out? But but...those dimples! This one breaks my heart...because my Brownies just don't appear to be able to live up to what they started last season. However, call me a homie, point and laugh if you will...I can*not* pick against them. In Cleveland, we thrive on delusion...and yeah, sometimes miracles happen. I take Cleveland. ;)

Carolina Panthers @ San Diego Chargers: The Chargers are a bit like the Bengals...they've been *almost* there for years now. I'm with the Chargers this week.

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers: Welcome to the 'Who Cares?' bowl '08. Coin toss and my faith in Kurt Warner says Cards.

8:15pm EST:
Chicago Bears @ Indianapolis Colts: OK. Here's my upset of the week. I predict that despite the quarterback shuffle, Devin Hester, Brian Urlacher, & the Bears are gonna make *sure* Peyton makes that special face of disgust. With any luck, we'll get to see him throw a pouty little fit at the post-game press conference as well. I'm taking the Bears by a hair.

Monday Games:

7:00pm EST:
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers: I predict Green Bay is on the verge of a 'holy crap...we shouldn't have sold Babe Ruth'-esque curse. Gotta take the Vikes on this one.

10:15pm EST:
Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders: Has a team ever fallen so far so fast as the Raiders in the past 5 years? Hmm...perhaps *they're* dealing with the curse of Chucky. Either way...the Broncs are gonna kick ass & take names this week.

Dot's Picks For Sunday, 7 Sept

Picks are not made against the spread but I have listed the information for those of you who care or are simply degenerate gamblers. Favorites are listed first.

9/7 1:00 ET Cincinnati -2 At Baltimore
I like Cincinnati. If Chad Johnson has a kid he names him after himself, will he be Chad Ocho Cinco Dos?

9/7 1:00 ET NY Jets -3 At Miami
Jets. I mean, really. Miami? Chad Pennington wants revenge I'm sure, but it's hard to exact revenge with the football team equivalent of a spork.

9/7 1:00 ET At New England -16 Kansas City
Tough to bet on a team giving up so many points to cover. Good thing I just have to pick the winner. Pats in a walk, as I think Tom Brady and Randy Moss still have more to prove.

9/7 1:00 ET At Pittsburgh -6.5 Houston
Steelers, in a tune-up for the battle royale with Cleveland next week.

9/7 1:00 ET Jacksonville -3 At Tennessee
Jacksonville. I dunno why. Defense?

9/7 1:00 ET Detroit -3 At Atlanta
Lions, although Matt Ryan has looked good for Atlanta.

9/7 1:00 ET At Buffalo -1 Seattle
Buffalo. Hey, I like wings better than grunge music. My pics don't have to be rational.

9/7 1:00 ET At New Orleans -3 Tampa Bay
New Orleans. The only team from Florida the Saints are afraid of are the Miami Hurricanes.

9/7 1:00 ET At Philadelphia -8 St. Louis
Philly, although most of me wants to see them get their ass kicked because Arlen Specter is a tool.

9/7 4:15 ET Dallas -5.5 At Cleveland
Sorry Kit. Dallas, although Tony Romo really creeps me out.

9/7 4:15 ET At San Diego -9 Carolina
San Diego. If I were betting the spread, Carolina.

9/7 4:15 ET Arizona -2.5 At San Francisco
Arizona, which, if they win, will prove to John McCain once and for all that San Francisco has provoked God's displeasure for its liberal ways.

9/7 8:15 ET At Indianapolis -9.5 Chicago
Colts. But what I really want is the over under on Peyton Manning making his special face of disgust.

Backfield in Motion: The Song

So I understand that some of readers might be from places other than the United States and the title of the blog might be confusing. I'm not going to try to explain what a backfield in motion is, but you might want to listen to this song. It won't help you understand the title, but it sure is catchy.....

Good Thing I Don't Bet

Giants 16, Redskins 7. Yay Kit!

Giants v. Skins - Week 1 - Kit's Take

So...the 'skins d-line is full of holes...and Jason Taylor is iffy. Just *how* are they gonna stop Brandon Jacobs?!! And...even sans Umenyiora, the Giants are pretty solid...it's not gonna be an easy night for Portis.

The loss of Shockey defnitely hurts the Giants passing game...but all in all I'd say it's a wash...neither team really dominates here...but if one *DID*...I'd have to go w/the G-men for the edge.

Sooooo...yeah...I know Dot would love to think they're not that good...and well...maybe they're not...but...they're better than the Redskins.

I say Giants by 11.

Dot's Take On Giants-Redskins, Week 1

Ah, it's the season opener, and the Giants are at home, giving up 3.5-4 depending upon which line you're reading. In betting terms this means the Giants are getting the standard 3 points for home field and very little respect. Now I'm bitter, of course, about the Giants' win over the Pats in the Super Bowl, so I greatly enjoy the idea that the smart money is thinking the Giants just aren't that good of a team. My prediction? Eli Manning turns into a pumpkin and the Redskins win outright by 10. What do I base this on? Nothing, nothing at all......

Girls & Football? You betcha!!

Kit Maitland: Girl, Browns Fan, Football Lover

It's that time of the year again. Here up north where the seasons change...the days have begun to get milder...the nights have begun to get cooler...the leaves are starting to fall from the trees. It's the beginning of the end of summer...time to go back to school and to start thinking about preparing for the winter ahead. It also happens to be my very favorite time of year...not because I love the weather (though I do)...but because I love football. And I mean...I. LOVE. FOOTBALL. You can have your summer vacations & your holiday seasons...for me...this is as good as it gets. It's that magical time of the year when, to quote one of my favorite NFL Network commericials...we are all undefeated again...when anything can happen. It's *my* spring...and there is nothing in the world like the start of a new game...holding your breath as the ball floats through the air...not knowing what's going to happen next...but hoping...hoping...that it's going to end the way you want.

I come to my own love of football by way of being a life long fan of two teams: the Marshall University Thundering Herd...and the Cleveland Browns. If you know anything about either team...then you know both have dealt with adversity and heartbreak. When you live in Huntington...it doesn't really matter if you're a boy or a girl...it just matters that you're part of a community that's forged a bond with its football team like no other...and you love them...even when they suck (which was *MOST* of the time when I was growing up). Of course the trials of the Browns are legendary: Red Right 88...John effing Elway and his effing Broncos...Art effing Modell...The Helmet...Butch effing Davis...yeah...just keep throwing 'em at us...we can take it...and one day...ONE DAY!!!

So here I am...in my brand spanking new SL Browns outfit...and you might say...'Well Kit! Dot put on a Browns uniform...why didn't you put on a Pats one?'. And to that I'd say well...duh of course she did. I can't help it if *everyone* wants to flee to the Cleve. Can't say as I blame 'em. We have the awesomest fans in the world. Why would I wanna downgrade? ;)

Girls? Football? Bring It On!

Dot Lane Roots For The Browns

We like football. No, scratch that. We *love* football. And we're girls. Go figure right? After all, I went to a college without a football team and the New England Patriots were teh suck when I was young (apart from a Super Bowl appearance in the 90s where they were teh suck, but in front of a billion people so their suckitude was displayed globally and Prince wasn't even on the halftime show that year to at least make me happy I sat through the damn thing). But when you live in New England, well, what are you going to do? You're going to be a Patriots fan and then when Tom Brady comes out of nowhere and plays like a champion *and* looks exactly like what you think the quarterback of your dreams should look like, well, you really sit up and pay attention.

During last season Kit and I kept talking about how great it would be to have a blog where girls talked football because we don't always talk about hair and shoes. I'll let you in on a little secret: we're usually talking about *you* behind your back.

Now, I'm sure you're asking why I'm wearing a Cleveland Browns cheerleading uniform since I love the Patriots so much. Funny you should ask. I'm wearing a Browns uniform as a show of solidarity with Kit, who loves the Browns. And besides, I'm not gorgeous enough to be a Patriots cheerleader, but I should fit right in with the girls of the Browns--short, kinda chubby, sensible shoes. Did I mention that we're gonna talk shit about each other? Yeah, we are. Enjoy!
